Most of us that wander the earth during this time are carrying an accumulation of past pain otherwise known as the ‘pain-body’. Since the planet is undergoing a major transition, it seems that we are increasingly confronted with these trapped energies.

Through the light of awareness, we are blessed with a consciousness that can choose to no longer feed our pain-body. Rather than powerlessly being at the mercy of the energy movement within us, instead, we boldly stare it in the face as it creeps to the surface of our energetic structure, and we dissolve it. The journey of ascension guides us down a path that ultimately leads to liberation from our harboured pain.

The Pain Body – What is it?

Perhaps you have heard of the term ‘pain-body’ through the profound teachings of Eckart Tolle in his revolutionary book ‘The Power of Now’.

Negative fear-based emotions (energy-in-motion), hold a dense and slow vibrational frequency that becomes lodged in our energy field if it is not truly felt and released at the time. The pain-body is therefore considered to be the result of experiences from the past when we felt pain and did not process it.

This pain-body occupies our mind and body, it is an invisible entity in an of itself. It wants to feed on energies that hold similar vibrational frequencies; pain can only feed on pain. Our pain will repeatedly surface time and time again, attracting similar experiences and creating patterns in our life.

The pain-body will surface with every intention of taking us over, blinding us from conscious awareness so that it can feast on further pain. For this reason, we must become aware of when it is rising to remain alert and observant.

Unconscious thoughts and many things in our outside world such as people or experiences, can trigger the pain-body and rapidly bring it to the surface. Other times it can surface gradually and subtly through an unhappy mood, frustration, a desire for drama in a relationship etc. The sooner we catch our old emotional pain surfacing, the more consciousness we can project onto it.

Our accumulated pain may arise as we are led into past memories on our journey of healing. It seems that a divine plan is at work for those that are consciously ascending as the pain-body may surface in powerful waves, propelling us through a ‘dark night of the soul’.

Stay Conscious- Disidentification From the Painbody

”The pain-body wants to survive, just like every other entity in existence, and it can only survive if it gets you to unconsciously identify with it”- Eckart Tolle

Our pain-body will manifest as negative emotion and can, therefore, be recognised instantly through observation of the ‘self’. We may only recognise that we have been lost in the pain-body after we have projected it through anger at another, or perhaps we become aware of it hours after it initially erupted. Whenever we wake up to the arising of the pain-body, we automatically create spaciousness between the emotion and who we really are.

We are not the pain-body, we are infinite spiritual beings having a temporary human experience. We possess the ability to observe our pain and in doing so, we realise that we are not it. This crucial understanding enables us to disidentify from our heavy emotion and instead of being lost and consumed by it, we are the conscious witness of it.

When we remember our divinity and become consciously aware of the surfaced pain-body, we hold the knowingness of what it truly is. In doing so, we take the power away from it and instead exercise our inherent power through not reacting or feeding it further. Instead, we allow it to dissolve through our energetic body, whilst we simultaneously tune into our true consciousness beyond emotion.

Accept It

It is common for us to resist our pain-body when it awakens from its dormant state. We may notice thoughts such as; ‘I shouldn’t be experiencing this’, or ‘I just want it to end now’. We may also distract ourselves from our pain with food, people, devices or addictions. Additionally, we attempt to bypass it with various spiritual practices that are aimed at raising our vibration in order to get out of it.

When we distract ourselves or try to control our pain, we are in a state of resistance. This is exactly how the pain became lodged inside of us to begin with. When we let the pain come and when we courageously let it be, we grace it with presence and acceptance, allowing it to dissolve out of us.

Our painful emotions take a ‘form’ and therefore exist as part of the physical realm, all forms are impermanent. One way that we can surrender into and accept our pain, is by holding the knowingness that our emotion will pass and that it is only our resistance that will bring it back once again.

Feel It

Perhaps the most daunting part of consciously navigating our pain-body is to be present with it. Presence acts as the sword that will overcome our pain if we can only draw on our innermost strength to heroically feel all that we are feeling. Once we successfully peel back the layers gathered through years of being conditioned to not feel our pain, feeling into it soon becomes normality.

When we experience a negative emotion it is nothing more than energy-in-motion. Once we let go of thoughts and direct our attention into the inner energy field of the body, we feel that emotion as a sensation within our form. Emotions can differ in intensity and can be felt in various parts of the body. Occasionally, feeling into the pain-body may manifest into physical aches and pains.

When we become aware that our feeling has turned into thinking, we simply bring our attention back to our inner space, being sure to love our self in the process. Through truly being present with our pain, we can never underestimate how quickly an emotion will pass and how rapidly a situation in our outer world will resolve itself. Purging the pain-body can often feel like a shadowy storm cloud ominously hovering above us, only to pass revealing a rejuvenated and sunlit sky.

As we courageously sit in our pain, we honour it and through the light of awareness, we dissolve it. Knowing that we are healing ourselves through feeling our pain-body, is a gift that will eventually lead to a human existence that is free from accumulated pain.

Watch Your Thoughts

The pain-body seeks to feed on negative thoughts and will cling onto any negative story that arises within the mind. We all have an inner narrator that sounds just like us, it will tell us stories about the pain that we are experiencing only to intensify and worsen our pain. In truth, the fear-based voices in the mind are simply a vibrational match to the pain body, they are not real and they do not reflect our truth.

Through watching our thoughts, we realise that we are not our thoughts and we can exercise our power as the observer by disregarding the stories that arise in the mind. Through observing from a place of non-attachment, we can promptly direct our attention back to the inner energy field of the body.

Often, the ruthless egoic voices in the mind will not give up easily, the pain body wants to feed and such thoughts hold heavy vibrational momentum. It may be especially difficult to ignore the mind if a recent experience has triggered the emotional uprise and we are still trying to ‘figure it out’ and resolve the issue. Catching our thoughts and resisting the temptation to get drawn into spiralling negative thought patterns, will become normality as we continue to raise our awareness over time.

Thoughts that are left to run rampant, only feed our pain-body and create resistance. Each time we bring ourselves back to our breath, we return to the body where thinking cannot exist and healing can take place.

Final Words

Learning to navigate through our arising pain-body is a practice that reflects living in heightened states of consciousness. Once we have learned these concepts, they will integrate into our being in divine timing. Through the practice of bringing these new perspectives and beliefs into our experiences of painful emotions, we not only consciously approach our pain but we also change our entire earthly experience. Dissolving our pain-body and continuing to truly feel our pain, produces a ripple effect that is nothing short of limitless, not just for ourselves but for humanity at large.

Importantly, our perspective of the pain-body will change over time as we come to know that we would not be the person we are today without it. It is through this thankfulness that we can see the necessity of the pain-body here on earth during this time. Paradoxically, it is through the light of awareness that we consciously discover how unnecessary suffering can truly be.
